I rescued a 13-15 year old miniature poodle with limited hearing, few teeth, and health issues including kennel cough, a removed eye, and cataracts in the other eye. He had a seizure 4-6 weeks ago and another one after I accidentally pushed him off the bed during a moment of frustration. He did not recover from the second seizure and passed away. My dog had benign cancer removed from his hock three months ago. The wound was healing well with bandaging every three days, but a small hole appeared, and the wound is now about one inch in diameter. My dog is in pain, and his paw is swollen. I'm giving him Tramadol and antibiotics, but the wound is difficult to manage due to his tendency to chew at it. What can I do to help him heal and manage his pain?

We have a Welsh Pembroke Corgi. Recently, we noticed it was infested with ticks. We are approaching the problem in four ways: cutting his coat short, limiting his exposure to grass, sprinkling him daily with a powder/lotion containing tick repellent, and using a steam mop with tick repellent to disinfect the floor. Are any of these methods not recommended, and are there better ways to carry out these steps? Additionally, could you recommend the most effective tick repellent brands and other solutions to control the tick infestation?
