I have a six-year-old mini schnauzer named Jax who has been coughing again, mostly when laying down, and licking his feet and lips excessively. His gums are tacky but he's not dehydrated, and he's acting 110% normal otherwise. Should I take him to an unfamiliar vet now, or wait until I can see our regular vet on the 26th?

Despite multiple blood transfusions and treatments, his condition worsened. I am feeling intense guilt and wondering if I made the right decision or if there was more I could have done. My dog has been shivering, panting, acting quiet and not feeling well, with no fever, vomiting, or diarrhea. Her nose is wet, gums are pink, and she hasn't been eating much. She recently jumped off the bed and limped, but now seems fine. What should I look for and do?
