We have two new puppies, about 4 months old, who started chewing and eating their piddle pads. I know because they are passing them in their stools. How will I know if they are passing all that they eat? What signs should I look for if they don't pass all of it?

My 1-year-old male Shih Tzu has been taking doxycycline and prednisone for an E. canis infection for a week. The vet also added a/d food supplement to his diet. Tonight, he vomited 4 times after eating solid food. Is vomiting considered a side effect of the medicines he's been taking? What can I do to help settle his stomach, and is there a need for rehydration?

My dog ate a bone and I think it slivered and is lodged in her stomach. Can I give her anything to dissolve it? She is showing symptoms of trying to have bowel movements but only producing some clear liquid and blood, and she is vomiting and drinking water, which she then throws up.

Our 40-pound ten-year-old Sussex Spaniel named Lucy ate something in the street and developed mild diarrhea that persisted despite treatment with an over-the-counter pre- and pro-biotic. The vet prescribed 500 mg Metronidazole to be given once a day. However, Lucy had profuse diarrhea again in the middle of the night, so I gave her the Metronidazole pill at 5 am. She had a fairly normal bowel movement at 5 pm, but I'm wondering if it would be OK to give her another 500 mg Metronidazole pill for today to double the dose. Is it safe to do so?
