My 12-year-old Basset Hound, Cooper, has been very weak for 2 days, mostly sleeping, eating and drinking very little, and his back legs are the weakest. My 75-pound lab had surgery to remove an 11-pound tumor and his spleen. He has been crying and whining in pain for 48 hours straight, despite being given Gabapentin 300 mg, tramadol, and a shot of buprenorphine. I gave him 4 mg of my own hydromorphone, but I'm worried about overdosing him. Is 4 mg too much, and can I increase it if necessary? What is the safe oral dosage of hydromorphone for my dog according to vet guidelines?
