My dog has been acting strangely for a few weeks. He used to enjoy long walks but now lays down and refuses to walk. However, he can still scamper up steps and stand on his hind legs to play. Sometimes he doesn't approach his food or water bowl, but will eat and drink if I bring it to him. What could be causing this behavior?

I have my 11-month-old Shih Tzu groomed every 6 weeks. I am concerned that the groomer does not cut his nails short enough to prevent the nailbed from growing, which could cause pain when walking. What is the correct length for a dog's nail to prevent this, and how do I tactfully communicate this to my groomer?

My year-old Toy Poodle, Freedom, ingested several tablespoons of butter and immediately vomited large amounts of liquidy butter, followed by diarrhea. He seems okay now but has been drinking water and chewing on a dog bone. The incident was about 6 hours ago. Should I feed him something bland, and should I seek veterinary attention?

We took our dog in on Monday for a lepto vaccine, never had one before. No immediate reaction. Then Wednesday morning, we noticed a golf ball-sized lump on his spine between his shoulder blades and he was in a lot of pain and could hardly walk. Today, he can't walk at all and the lump is gone, but both his back legs are limp. When we took him to the vet earlier this afternoon, they gave him a steroid injection. His front legs aren't shaking anymore, but he still can't walk. We can't pick him up to get him to urinate as he is in a lot of pain still. There's been no vomiting, fever, or diarrhea either. Please, any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
