Hello. We just were prescribed Carprofen for our dog (40 lbs). The dosage was half a tablet (25 g). The way the label was printed, it looked like 1 and 1/2, so I just gave her 3x the dose. She threw up and is now resting. I was just reading about possible organ damage. Should I take her to the emergency vet?

My husband, who suffers from dementia, informed me that our lab ate a block of Tomcat mouse poison about four days ago. I have seen no symptoms of poisoning in her. Is she likely to have suffered no ill effects or should I still be worried?

My female Maltese, approximately 6 years old, often stands and then suddenly falls over, especially when trying to sleep with her head over the edge of the couch or bed. She has been breathing through her mouth more frequently, is restless, and wakes herself up often. She has been on antibiotics, prednisone, and pain medicine with no change. What could be wrong with her?

I have a 12-year-old German Shepherd Dog (GSD) who started having seizures. The vet prescribed prednisolone 40 mg a day, which is the only dose that prevents seizures. The vet suggested reducing the dose, but any reduction triggers seizures. My dog is incontinent about 80% of the time, very hungry and thirsty, and not quite the same dog he used to be. How long can a dog continue on this high dose of prednisolone comfortably, and what are the long-term effects?

My 8-year-old Corgi is moaning, won't eat, and may be constipated and in pain. She acts like she wants to pass a stool but can't, moves slowly, and has a tucked tail. I don't know when she last passed a stool. She was fed a lot of junk food, possibly including chicken bones, and has had a UTI with antibiotics. What should I do to help her until the vet opens?
