My 16-year-old dog, Sasha, has had diarrhea for four days and this morning had tar-like stools after being given bismuth subsalicylate. She ate salsa about a week ago and has been eating well without vomiting or lethargy. What could be causing the tar-like stools and what should I do?

My dog, Buddy, a 13-year-old cocker/cavalier mix, has a sore on her face that hasn't healed for a couple of months. It was initially thought to be a skin tag from grooming, but it hasn't healed and is bloody with lots of dried blood around it. There is no swelling, and Buddy has some hip issues. She rubs her face on the ground, possibly irritating the sore. What could be the issue, and what should I do?
