While hiking, my springer spaniel named Whisper, who is 12 years old, blistered and lost the top skin on one of his paw pads. Can I do anything to help it heal besides keeping him from running/walking on it as much? How long should healing take?

We have an 8-year-old male goat named Beau who had a rear leg amputated 7 years ago. For the last six months, he has been walking on the front tips of his front hooves, and in the last week, it has worsened significantly. He is barely able to get around. We trimmed his hooves, but it didn't help. Someone mentioned Caprine Arthritis Encephalitis Virus. What do you think?
