Hi Dr. Perry, this is Cynthia again with Coby the Boston Terrier. I was in communication with you a few days ago regarding a protruding bulge underneath his anus, which has now been confirmed as a perineal hernia. The vet said it's just fat at the moment. The next step is to schedule a consultation with an emergency clinic that specializes in this, but they are booked for another month. My fear is that he may encounter complications during and/or after surgery since it's been present for a few months now. Do you think he'll experience any complications?

My dog, Paws, a 5-year-old Chihuahua Dachshund mix, was up early this morning whining and wouldn’t get up to walk. He just plopped back on his hind legs, and his tail is limp. He lets me move his legs but whines when I move his back right leg. His tail is limp, and he did pee and poop this morning. What could be wrong, and what should I do?
