My 4-month-old female toy Chihuahua, weighing about 2 pounds, started acting lethargic tonight. She normally is very active but now seems overly tired and has dry heaved once. She ate normally earlier and has been able to drink a small amount of water. What could be causing her lethargy and should I take her to the vet?

My 20-pound dog, Chidi, ingested 3 grams of xylitol over 3 days from melatonin gummies. He has shown no symptoms so far. What should I do, and could the peanut butter he eats with the gummies have helped with any potential blood sugar issues?

We have a pair of sibling dogs that came into our shelter. The male dog has had about a third of his tail cut off, and it is raw but not bleeding. He licks it frequently. Warren weighs 36.5 lbs, and there isn't enough tissue to close the wound. Should we have the tail further amputated by a vet to allow a skin flap for healing, or could it heal on its own with an e-collar and antibiotics? We are a 501(c)3 non-profit shelter with limited funds due to COVID-19, so we prefer the least expensive route if possible.

My 4 1/2 months Australian Shepherd puppy Panda has been having diarrhea for the past few days. I changed her food because she’s picky, and I noticed some blood in her stools, not much but enough to worry me. She seems otherwise fine, no vomiting, full of energy, and playing. I don’t want to get the vet out every time she has loose stools. What should I do?
