My 4-year-old border collie, Sam, has an unwillingness to jump up on the bed or couch. He walks and runs fine, eats and drinks normally, and has no issues with bathroom habits. He seems happy but won't jump up. Sometimes he will jump up and put his paws on my shoulders for a hug but won't do that either. I'm wondering if he might have a strained muscle or pinched nerve. I have checked his feet and there are no visible wounds. When I check his back legs, feet, and lower back, he doesn't shy away or cry in pain. What could be the issue and what can I do in the meantime?
