I have a 75lb rescue dog named Rockne, approximately 7 or 8 years old, who had his first heartworm shot today and is crying and in a lot of pain. He is on prednisone and has been coughing for the past month and a half. Is there anything over the counter I can give him to alleviate his pain, or should I wait until my vet is available on Monday?

I thought it might be due to fleas, but he has been treated and his hair has been cut, yet the issue persists.
