My 5-month-old Irish setter spaniel mix puppy has had diarrhea for about 12 hours. The stool is thin, watery, and contains some mucus, but no blood. The puppy ate 1 ounce of intense dark chocolate 24 hours ago and has been socializing with other dogs. The puppy is up-to-date on vaccines, heartguard, and flea/tick prevention, and had a previous episode of hookworm infection a month ago. Is this another episode of hookworm, or is the chocolate the cause? Should I induce vomiting, use charcoal, or change the diet? Should the puppy's activity be restricted?
