My dog Harry, who is 12 years old and has a history of airborne allergies and anxiety, has had a sore eye with discharge for over a week. I have tried salt water washes and warm compresses, but the issue persists. The eye is red, and there is some hair loss around it, particularly on one side. What could be causing this, and what steps should I take to address it?

My yellow lab, Lorelei, started limping and holds up her right paw even when sitting. She lets me look at it, and one toe looks a little swollen/red, but she isn't protective or anxious about me looking at it unless I get really nosy. She isn't licking the swelling, and she still jumps onto furniture and my bed. I noticed the limp on Thursday evening, and she uses her foot when jumping without hesitation but holds it up when sitting. Is one of the toes swollen? What could be causing this, and how should I proceed with the dog sitter who will be staying at my home?
