My 14 and 3/4-year-old whippet, Smyth, has an open, weeping lump/cyst on his leg that won't heal and has been managed with warm cloths to prevent infection. He has also lost 3 pounds since October, dropping from 38 to 35 pounds, despite eating and drinking normally and appearing happy. His August blood work showed early signs of kidney problems, and he drinks more water now. Could the weight loss be related to the lump or kidney issues, and what else can be done about the lump?
