My 5-year-old dog, Misty, is lethargic, panting, hasn't eaten since the day before yesterday, walking slowly, seems in pain, and is breathing faster with her mouth open and tongue hanging out. She's also crying and has her ears back. She's on prednisone as needed and apoquel for allergies. What could be causing these symptoms and what should I do?

My small Yorkie, Sam, who is 14 years old and takes 25mg of Carprofen (1/4 tablet) for hip arthritis, had his left hind leg accidentally stepped on three hours ago. He weighs 4.5 lbs and is otherwise in good health. He is deaf and was sleeping when the incident occurred. I took him to an emergency vet clinic, but the wait was 7 hours. How long before I am connected to a vet, and what should I do in the meantime?
