My dog has a bump on his paw that looks similar to a foxtail grass or something stuck in the paw, with pus and blood visible in a tiny hole. The bump has gotten smaller with epsom salt soaks, but the skin around it has discolored. The dog does not limp or seem to be in pain, but constantly licks the area. What could this be, and should I continue soaking it in epsom salt and add betadine?

We had a pacemaker put in our small sheltie a few years ago. We've not kept up with the annual programming checkups due to cost, distance, and she seems okay. However, is it possible that she could be receiving occasional jolts to her heart by not having had this thing checked for proper programming for 2 years? She sometimes suddenly rises up or changes resting spots, which concerns me as I don't want her to experience any possible rhythm jolts due to not being at a good programming baseline.

My Lhasa Apso has a brain tumor, and we can't afford an MRI or CT scan, which is the only way to determine its exact location. Our vet suggested euthanasia due to his deteriorating condition. Is there a less expensive treatment option that could improve his quality of life and potentially extend it?

I have a Lhasa Apso with matted hair that I need to comb out. She becomes very anxious and won't sit still when I try to comb her, and our local groomers just cut her hair off without trying to comb it. I don't want to resort to cutting her hair, so I'm looking for ways to calm her down for combing. I've considered using a sedative but am hesitant. Are there any suggestions to help her stay calm during the combing process?

My 97 lb ridgeback ate my husband's ostomy bag with a 2 x 3/8 inch ring. She has passed most of the plastic bag but not the ring. She has vomited a bit but generally is eating, pooping, and behaving normally. What should we do? How long can it take for the ring to pass?
