My dog has suddenly lost use of his left hind leg. He was fine yesterday, but today he struggles to walk on it and it gives way when he stands. He also had a very runny, watery bowel movement, which is unusual for him, and he seems to be feeling sorry for himself without showing signs of pain. What could be causing this and what should I do?

I've adopted an 8-year-old Shih Tzu who is blind due to severe scarring from neglect. He has episodes of excess salivation, licking the floor for up to 10 minutes, and shortness of breath mostly in the evenings. He also had a grand mal seizure last night.
