My dog, Jinx, a 22 lbs Miniature Aussie, ate part of a starfish at the beach. He is almost 11 years old. He had chewed off part of it and there were a few pieces on the floor. He had just eaten his dinner and then went back to eat more dry food and drink water. Is this a concern, and what should I watch for?

My 1-year-old German Shepherd, Maggie, occasionally acts like she is clearing her throat and has a reflex to heave, as if something is stuck in her throat. She is active, her eyes are bright, and she is drinking water, but she is eating less and being picky about food. There is no foaming or actual vomit, and she has been able to eliminate waste normally. Should I be worried, and what could be causing this?
