My dog, Macie, age 13, is losing red blood cells even after two blood transfusions. My vet and an internal specialist have run tests, including bone marrow aspirations, which were negative for cancer and showed her body is not attacking her red blood cells. She is on Prednisone, Doxycycline, and iron supplements. What could be causing her anemia and what further steps can be taken?
