My 11-year-old 15 lb cockapoo with Cushing's disease was put on 25mg of Trilostane a few months ago. She has become lethargic, struggles to get up, and seems to have aged significantly. The vet suggested starting her on prednisone 5mg for 7 days, then decreasing to half a tablet every other day. I am concerned about her blood levels and the safety of combining these medications. What are the potential risks and alternative treatments for her condition?

I have a 9-year-old Pomeranian/Miniature Pinscher mix named Zaydee. She started having trouble getting around two days ago, limping and walking slowly. She has her tail up and runs to the front door to bark only once or twice, but mostly has her tail tucked down, walks with her head low, and stays in bed. If I try to pick her up, she cries and screams as if in pain. She's still drinking water and eating canned food mixed with rice once a day, but hasn't eaten dry food since then. Could it be arthritis or is she in terrible pain?
