My Basset Hound mix of almost 14 years died. He had bouts of restlessness and panting. Ate normal, drank normal. Vet did blood tests and electrolyte tests, all came back normal. He died 4 days later. What could have caused his death and is an autopsy an option for determining the cause?

My dog, Kiyeega, has been losing a lot of weight over the last month and I don't know why. He's been drinking less water than usual and hasn't shown any changes in appetite.
