My dog yelps every time his snout (nose or front of teeth) are bumped. I see no swelling. Gums look more red than usual around the top front teeth. Though he does not yelp if I put my finger in his mouth and press around that area. What could be causing this pain?

The pain could be related to mild trauma/inflammation, gum disease, back or neck problems, or a tick...

My dog is very sluggish, has thrown up after eating, had diarrhea several times last night, has a hard stomach, looks sick, won't run outside, and is 4 1/2 years old. She started showing symptoms yesterday and often eats toilet paper, which she has not yet pooped out. What could be wrong and what should I do?

My miniature dachshund, weighing about 14 pounds, accidentally consumed 2-3 pills of Rimadyl 25 mg. She has shown symptoms of stomach upset, vomiting, and trembling. We cannot afford to take her to the vet for extensive testing and treatment. What are the short-term and long-term effects of this overdose, and what can we do to manage her condition at home?

I have a 14.5-year-old male Labrador with severe arthritis, a stiff and awkward gait, constant whining and barking when alone, difficulty standing and managing steps, and incontinence. The vet believes he is not in pain due to lack of nerve endings from the middle of his back downwards. How do we assess if we are doing what is right for him or us?
