I have a 14.5-year-old male Labrador with severe arthritis, a stiff and awkward gait, constant whining and barking when alone, difficulty standing and managing steps, and incontinence. The vet believes he is not in pain due to lack of nerve endings from the middle of his back downwards. How do we assess if we are doing what is right for him or us?

My 17-month-old dog has been suffering from cow-pat-style stools for the past 4 weeks, with up to 11 episodes in a 16-hour period, and has lost over 5 kilos. She is under veterinary care, but tests have shown two types of infections, with antibiotics working for one but not the other. Is there any human-type natural remedy that may be helpful?

We visited family on December 22nd and 23rd, unaware that their puppy was being treated for giardia. On Christmas, my dog, Nina, vomited once and started having diarrhea. Her stools are still not right, soft and mucousy. We initially thought she might have gotten into something, but now suspect she could have picked up the parasite from the puppy. Is this possible? If a dog is on medication, is the dog still contagious? Can this be passed to humans?
