My dog, Baxter, a 13-year-old obese 30 lb dachshund, has been coughing up fluid, especially in the evening. I thought it was Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) and started him on Salix and Vetmedin, but they don't seem to be working. He's not on heartworm protection. What else could be causing this and what should I do next?

I accidentally gave my 10-pound dog, Chiclet, a second evening dose of her phenobarbital. She is prescribed 24.3 mg twice a day. She had her normal amount this morning but just had double this evening. Will she be okay with the extra amount?
