Is it normal for 'teddy bear' breed dogs to have frequent ear infections?

My Chihuahua, Lily, started biting all parts of her body, then her breathing became difficult with wheezing and shallow breaths. She won't eat or drink, and either runs and hides or just lays in her bed and won't get up or go potty. What could be causing this and what should I do?

I have a 10-year-old mixed terrier named Sreymao who weighs 17.2 lbs. She appears to have developed a right-sided anal gland infection. The area is red, warm, slightly swollen, and indurated but not fluctuant. I have some Augmentin and she's already started on warm compresses. Is a dose of 100mg twice a day correct? Additionally, she is overall in good health but may be a bit overweight, ideally weighing around 15 lbs.
