My vet recommends surgery for my dog's anal glands, which need to be expressed every 3 to 4 weeks. I am concerned about potential complications, especially incontinence. Is this frequency usual, or should I consider surgery?

My 3-year-old Olde English Bulldogge has had diarrhea for a week. Immodium was given for a couple of days and saw improvement, but if I take her off Immodium, the diarrhea returns. She has been on a ground beef/rice diet and has had no accidents. Her behavior is playful and unchanged. Recently changed her food from chicken to turkey under the same brand (Natural Choice). What could be causing the diarrhea and what can I do to help her?

Our dog was put on Soloxine 3 weeks ago to improve a thyroid condition. Since then, the dog has gained 16.5 lbs, going from 106.8 to over 122lbs. The dog is a Bernese Mountain Dog and has been fairly stable weight-wise until late November. Blood panels show the only abnormality is protein levels at the lower range. The thyroid is now over 2 and the weight gain does not appear to be slowing. The dog has been put on a low dose of a diuretic. What could be causing the excessive weight gain, and what should we do?

My 12-pound dog ate a 1000IU vitamin D3 pill. Is this harmful?

My 12-year-old dog has been sick for over a month with symptoms including swollen lymph glands, swollen paws and limbs, a hoarse bark, and a red rash on her belly. She has had two rounds of antibiotics and steroids, and Benadryl, which reduced the rash and limb swelling but not the facial or throat swelling. She still has a hoarse bark and a slight runny nose. She was checked for cancer (negative) and is slightly anemic. Her appetite and potty habits are okay, but she is a bit lethargic. What could be causing these symptoms, and what further tests or treatments should I consider?
