My Shih Tzu Maltese, Charlie, has been squealing and crying, especially when his rib and upper stomach area are touched. He's been lethargic, not eating much, and has a tight stomach and chest area. I've tried giving him laxatives for constipation, but it hasn't helped. What could be causing his pain, and what should I do?

Are those do not eat silica packets poisonous if my dog opens and eats the inside beads? My dog vomited and had diarrhea this morning, and we found a chewed up silica packet at home. The ER vet treated him for colitis and prescribed sucralfate and metronidazole. Should we change his treatment based on the silica packet ingestion?
