Our 14-year-old dog, Sammy, was diagnosed with Cushings, which unmasked significant pain. He is not using his left paw, has strained back hips, and is unable to walk much or jump down from furniture without assistance. He has been constantly whimpering for the past day. We've tried tramadol and Rimadyl for pain, but they haven't helped. We are considering stopping the Cushings treatment and focusing on pain management. Is it possible that allowing cortisol levels to rise again could improve his pain management? Are there other pain management options we should consider?
