My dog Gunner just started drooling profusely about 3 hours ago. It's making a puddle on the floor and oozing down his neck. He has never drooled like this before. He is a male lab, almost 9 years old. What could be causing this and what should I do?

I have a 3-year-old pug and have recently moved to a remote area. I work 3 days a week for 12 hours, leaving my house at 7 AM and returning around 9 PM. I am worried about leaving him alone for such long periods. He has full access to the house and has never had issues with bladder or bowel control. I have bought potty pads but am unsure if he will use them. I do not have anyone to let him out while I am away. I am more concerned about the risk of a UTI than bowel movements. Can leaving him alone for so long harm him?
