I have a sharp shooting pain that radiates from the left side of my head into my left eye, ear, gums, jawbone, nose, and throat. The pain has been ongoing for days without relief. I have no fever and experience pain when pressing these areas. What could be causing this pain and what tests or treatments should I consider?

My son was diagnosed with Mono yesterday. After being taken off antibiotics and steroids, he was put on hydrocodone-homatropine syrup. This morning, he woke up with his left eyelid swollen and feeling like there's fluid in it. Does this require another visit to the ER, or is it a side effect or symptom of mono or possibly the medications?
