I have been running for 6 years and recently started racing 5k. After running a 5k on Friday, I noticed a pain in the ball of my foot under the big toe on Sunday, which worsened after a run. My shoes are only 3 months old, and I did nothing unusual that weekend. Is it possible it could be a stress fracture? Why did the pain suddenly appear after so many years of running?
