Two checks were stolen in Washington state and written out for $9600.00 and $9700.00. I live in Alaska and had no idea this occurred until I was served paperwork from a process server for a Washington state case. It was taken to the Anchorage court system, and Alaska Federal Credit Union took me to court in Alaska. The case went into default and has been satisfied. Can I get an attorney to get my money back, especially since Alaska Federal Credit Union cashed the checks without notifying me?
