I recently had a civil dispute with an employee who quit mid-job while driving a company vehicle. When I tried to retrieve the vehicle, the police arrived and allowed the employee to take belongings from the truck, stating he was in possession. I believe this was handled improperly. Do I have any actions I can take against the police department for violating my rights, and if so, what type of attorney should I retain?
