As a therapist, do I legally have to send my patient's ex-husband's lawyer her therapy notes and records if they have sent me an affidavit for her medical records or therapy records, which has to be notarized, and if my patient does not contest this in 26 days, it says I have to send the records?

I am a phlebotomist at a hospital. My co-worker was scheduled to work that evening. I was on the neurological floor to draw another patient when an employee mentioned that my co-worker was in the hospital. I saw her in her room and spoke with her briefly. Later, I informed my supervisor that she wouldn't be in due to being hospitalized. Now, I am being questioned about how I knew she was in the hospital and if I might be in violation of HIPAA. Could I get fired for this, and should I retain an attorney to protect myself?
