As the executor of my deceased mother's estate in Illinois, I received a settlement check and was asked to sign a statement assuming financial responsibility for all known and unknown bills of the deceased. I did not sign it due to concerns about potential bills from another insurance company. After terminating therapy, I discovered she published a 'fictional' novel containing scenarios from my personal history.
