I believe a scammer sent me a forged photoshopped passport. How can I tell a real from a fake? The control number starts with 2018, which I think is wrong.

I am fully vaccinated and have uploaded the PDF, but when I go to submit, it asks me to upload proof of RT-PCR Negative Certificate, even though it says I don't need one. I am trying to recover and/or negotiate the return of $6995 from a matchmaking service for failure to deliver services. I am in California and not represented by a legal advocate. I have contacted the seller and expressed my desire to rescind the agreement due to their inability to deliver promised services according to the contract terms. They insist the contract is enforceable and are unwilling to negotiate. There is an arbitration clause in the contract, which I don't feel is appropriate. What are my options?
