I am experiencing severe defamation and exploitation, including being framed for colon cancer and heart disease without cause, by anonymous individuals from Latin America who are profiting from my enlightenment. What legal actions can I take against defamation and how can I find a local attorney to help me?

I recently hired a lawyer to assist my son, who is being harassed and stalked online. We hired the lawyer over a month ago with a retainer of fifteen thousand dollars, but so far we've seen no progress. We received one alleged draft motion for a restraining order, which seemed low-effort and contained emotional as well as factual statements. The lawyer assured us of a background check on the stalker but has not filed any motion yet. The lack of progress is harming my son's mental health, and the stalker continues to harass him. We've communicated our concerns to the lawyer, but there has been no response. I'm hesitant to cut the lawyer loose due to the difficulty in finding another lawyer willing to take the case. What should I do to ensure the lawyer is being responsible and if necessary, how can I get my money back?

I am heading into court this afternoon to defend myself against a junk debt buyer lawsuit in Iowa. I have answered the summons and have some concerns: the last activity from the original creditor was in 8/2020, the debt has been sold to different companies multiple times, the plaintiff's offer of evidence includes bills of sale but no actual contracts or purchase agreements, the summons states an incorrect address for me, and the amount claimed by the debt buyer differs from the original creditor's amount. I want to know what to expect in court and how to handle these issues.
