I filled out committal papers for my 15-year-old son with Autism Spectrum Disorder who is on an Ed Thomas Hold in Iowa. The hospital has not been able to place him due to 'unusual circumstances' and there is no child psychiatry offered. I was told the hearing would be on Wednesday, but today the Magistrate said I must appear on Monday. I am out of state and cannot attend on Monday or Tuesday. Are there any legal implications for my unavailability to a hearing that I cannot attend due to being out of state?
