I cut my thumb and it required stitches. I went to Herman Memorial ER in Katy, TX and received a Tetanus shot, a local shot for 7 stitches, and was billed $2000 by the ER and $1000 by the PA who put the stitches in. I do not have insurance and Herman would not negotiate the cost. I believe $3000 for 7 stitches is excessive. What recourse do I have?

I saw a psychotherapist for ten years due to an abusive and traumatic childhood. After terminating therapy, I discovered she published a 'fictional' novel containing scenarios from my personal history. While she didn't use my name, I'm disturbed that she used my trauma for her own gain. Do I have any private legal recourse or any recourse at all?
