My daughter got a ticket in Mansfield, CT, for going 68 in a 45. The police officer said he was giving her a break and wrote her up as a violation of statute 14-298 with a $92 fine. He told her this way there would be no points on her license and a much cheaper fine than if he wrote it as a speeding ticket. Before I have her plead guilty, is there any truth to what the officer told her?

In a harassment case, I found out that a hearing on my Motion to have an audio recording analyzed was not reported. The reason given was that my attorney requested to appear by telephone, which supposedly exempts the hearing from being reported. Is this true, and as the defendant, wouldn't I need to be informed of this? Additionally, the court ruled that a duplicate audio recording was identical to the original without ever hearing the original. How can the court make such a ruling without verifying the original recording?
