I had an arthroscopy on my hand under full anesthesia at a surgical center, which relieved my pain and made my hand functional again. The provider filed the claim on my behalf, but Medicare's appeal decision was unfavorable, stating that the services are not covered in this place of service. Medicare says I am responsible to pay the bill and I can appeal their decision within 180 days. What argument can I give Medicare, and can the provider bring legal action against me to satisfy their billing?
