I have a client who owes about 30k from unpaid bills. He keeps promising to pay but does nothing. I'm considering a lawsuit. I understand small claims court is usually up to about 25k, but it's easier than civil court. What are the advantages of a civil suit, and what are the additional costs, time, and effort involved?

I am employed at a Kuwait International School. They do not pay indemnities at the end of contracts. Instead, they make employees wait until they will sign no more contracts to be paid the indemnity. For example, my first contract was 2 years. I have accepted 3 more contracts with the school. I signed a contract for year 6. Now I want my indemnity for the first 5 years. The director told me the business office refuses. Is this legal?
