I have a disqualifying offense from 2014 (robbery ORC 2911.02) for employment in Ohio, where I would manage grants from the DOJ for the local health department. Despite my long-term sobriety, master's degree, and certification as a chemical dependency counselor, I am concerned about being hired. What are the chances that the human resource department may still allow me to be employed despite my disqualification? I need help interpreting this law!

In Missouri, if my son voluntarily admitted himself for depression but is waiting for a room to become available, and they tell him that if he signals he wants to leave, they would place him on an involuntary hold, does he need to say he is going to leave in order to start the 96-hour involuntary hold period?

I have a 'patent pending' designation on an invention in the industrial hardware/fasteners/tool field. I need direction on my next step toward licensing my invention for royalties without selling it outright. I have contacted many manufacturers and distributors with limited success. I am looking for a reputable clearing house or agent that can help me find buyers or marketers for my patented invention, without losing control or a significant portion of my royalties.

My husband has a lawsuit filed against him in Oregon, and we live in Colorado. We have two homes together, some joint bank accounts, and autos. I also have a business in an S-Corp. Should I have him quit claim deed himself off the homes, and is my business protected if they go after his personal assets? Additionally, if we refinance a home in my name only, would it be seen as removing him quit claim? If we sell one of the homes, would we run into the same issues? Is it hard to get the lawsuit to Colorado to go after personal assets? And, would a divorce change anything?
