I have a federal EEOC lawsuit against FEMA in Louisiana. My prior attorney left his firm and may have missed case deadlines for me. Can I do a case inquiry myself to find out the stage of my case, and what is the average cost for hiring an attorney to do the inquiry? A minor (15 years old at the time) was involved in a car accident on 11/29/2009 while driving her father's truck, with his consent. The minor's driver's license and vehicle registration were suspended due to an unsatisfied judgment from the accident. The family received a Dismissal Docket Notice on June 10, 2011, stating the case would be dismissed for lack of prosecution unless a Motion to Retain was filed. No further notices were received until a Notice of Unsatisfied Judgment from the insurance company was sent years later. The minor, now 19, is unable to drive and faces a $5800 restitution demand. Should the father be held responsible, and how can the suspension be lifted?
