Linda E. asked
I have been married for 40 years and have been thinking about divorce or separation. My wife has never worked, and I am paying a mortgage on my house as well as substantial credit card debt. All my kids are grown and out of the house. Would the monthly maintenance be more than I can afford, or should I just go for a separation?

I am in a difficult marriage with a husband who has severe mental issues, lies, steals from me, and harasses me constantly. He has a payee due to irresponsible behavior and makes about $4000 a month from veteran benefits and Social Security, but I never see any of it. I am saving to leave, but in the meantime, he follows me around the house and harasses me. I've been told I might be entitled to spousal support, but also that it might be difficult to obtain due to the length of our marriage. Additionally, he has a history of causing scenes and bringing homeless people into our home. I've had a run-in with the law where I was taken to jail for hitting him, and I'm not sure how that will affect my situation. What legal steps can I take to protect myself and potentially obtain spousal support?

I live in Michigan and am being sued for a personal debt by a private individual. They tried to seize money from my LLC business account, which was refused by the bank. They also tried my personal bank account but couldn't get the money because it's from Social Security. They filed a motion to add the LLC as a defendant and the judge allowed it. Can they now seize the LLC's bank account?

I live in the US, my child and ex-wife are outside the US. A child support order was issued outside the US in Belarus. Can my ex-wife bring it here and enforce it in the US, specifically in Nevada?

I live in Orange County, NY, and own a two-family house. We are looking for considerate tenants who do not engage in loud music or hostile behavior. We do not want to discriminate based on age, race, sex, or marital status. What can we request, and are we allowed to limit the number of tenants or refuse those with past jail issues? Are there any useful screening tools to help avoid dysfunctional individuals?
