I received an Interrogatory from a lawyer representing someone suing me, stating I had 14 days to respond, but Kansas Law allows 30 days unless specified differently by the court. The Interrogatory did not cite any legal authority for the 14-day deadline. Is this legal or just unethical? Additionally, I am drafting my own Interrogatory directed to the attorney, asking for legal authority for the deadline and defining his 'golden rule letter'. Can I request such answers, and can a Credit Union be sued over unethical and/or unfair business practices?

I am looking to retain a lawyer for my niece who was hit by a drunk driver on New Year's Eve. She lives in Minot, ND, and she does not have any experience in hiring lawyers. Luckily, she is okay but had to have surgery to repair her leg. She is a professional soccer player, so this is significant. Can you refer a really good lawyer in that area?
