I was caught shoplifting at Nordstroms today (2 items totaling $160.00) in Miami, FL. I was detained by LP, signed the Nordstrom Admonishment Agreement, and the merchandise was recovered undamaged. I have no criminal record and have never been sued civilly. I know a Notice of Civil Demand is likely, and most attorneys advise ignoring it. However, I was given a number to call to discuss civil restitution. Should I call this number, and could it potentially make the situation worse?

If my company assigns a cell phone to me and I'm expected to answer it at all times (I'm a salaried employee), can they legally get a copy of my text messages and read them? I'm located in Washington state and also work in Oregon. The phone is allowed for personal use and the company pays the bill.

The Los Angeles Department of Transportation has placed a stop sign in the middle of the road leading to my property, making it inaccessible by car and significantly reducing its value. I have contacted the LADOT and my councilman without success. Do I have any options?

My son, who is 27 years old and has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder since he was 12, is deeply devoted to the Catholic Church and wishes to become a priest. He has been stable since the age of 17, has completed a degree in religious studies, and has held a full-time job. Despite his stability and qualifications, his dream of serving the church is dismissed due to his diagnosis. Is it a definite 'no' for him, or are there exceptions or other religious orders he could pursue? Is there any advice on how to approach this situation?

Several years ago, my son was mock gang raped by other male students at a boarding school. The school was informed, and some students were expelled. However, my son has since fallen into chronic depression and is struggling in life. Is it too late to do anything about it, and what are the potential legal actions we could take?
