I hired a friend to remodel our house to get it ready to sell. We had a verbal agreement that I would pay for the materials and he would charge $25/hr for labor. I bought the materials, but in the middle of the job, he texted me a bid price to do the work. I assumed the bid price included the materials I had already paid for out of pocket. The job took 3 months and he did not do all the work that he was supposed to. Now he sends me an invoice showing a bid price that I never agreed to and wants additional money for supplies and materials. I told him the total price between what I already paid him and the materials I paid for should have been sufficient and the new total is completely outrageous for the work done. He feels since I made a profit on the house I should pay him more money. Am I legally obligated to pay him based on a price we never agreed on?

My boyfriend recently lied to me and did not pay the rent, resulting in a judgment issued to me which is paid but still on my credit report. This has impacted my ability to rent elsewhere. What kind of account can I set up to ensure a new apartment complex will rent to me, such as an escrow account?

My friend (Bob) sold vintage jewelry, including a Rolex watch and other items, to Jennifer, who claimed to represent a well-known antique shop in Burbank. Jennifer took the items without paying and later avoided returning them. Can we prosecute?

Does a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) prevent another person from taking my idea and discussing it with third parties as if it were their own? What actions can be taken if this happens, and who can initiate these actions? Additionally, if a partner company has not changed passwords after terminating an employee who had access to confidential information, are they liable for any disclosures? Can the partner company or ourselves issue a cease and desist to the terminated person, and what is needed to proceed? Finally, if a partner company wants to use our content and may approach our other key partners to broker their own deals, is there a legal document that can prevent this besides the NDA, and how can we reinforce this point during a meeting?
