I loaned my car to an acquaintance who refused to return it. I filed an unauthorized usage report with the police, which was later changed to auto theft. My insurance company is requesting phone records and text messages from the period I loaned the car until the report was changed to auto theft. Some of my text messages and phone conversations are embarrassing, and a few friends have past histories with drug usage. Can these records be turned over to the authorities by the insurance company if I haven't committed fraud, but had a lapse in judgment by initially trusting the person I loaned my car to?
